10. Deuce McAllister

It’s been a pretty rough year for former New Orleans Saints running back Deuce McAllister. In February, the Saints’ franchise leader in rushing yards (6,096) and touchdowns (49) was released by the team due to salary cap reasons, after making more than $25 million with over his 8-year career in New Orleans.

McAllister, 30, is still trying to join an NFL team, and so far there have been no takers. Even more troublesome for the former two-time Pro Bowler was when “Deuce McAllister Nissan” filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in March. Turns out McAllister’s auto dealership in Jackson, Mississippi owes more than $6.6 million plus interest according to Nissan, a figure very close to the $7 million the Saints would have had to pay McAllister if he stayed on the team in 2009.

The troubles haven’t stopped there for Deuce, who was sued on Aug. 3 for more than $750,000 by Whitney National Bank, who claims McAllister defaulted on three loans he personally guaranteed. McAllister claims he’s in football shape, but hasn’t found much interest from any other NFL teams after being suspended for the first four games of the season due to testing positive for performance enhancing drugs at the end of the 2008 season.
